Tour to the Terra Cotta Warriors

by Lewis Kasner

terra cotta warrior If you missed our August 2nd tour to the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana to see the large exhibit of the Terra Cotta Warriors, you really missed a fun tour and spectacular display of the 2200 year old artifacts?

We are very fortunate to have the exhibit so close to us. The Terra Cotta Warriors exhibit will be moving on to Atlanta, Houston and Washington DC.

Our tour stated from Kilarney's Restaurant in Riverside and we traveled down the 91 freeway to Orange County. Other than a bit of traffic congestion in the canyon, we all made it to the Bowers Museum where a parking corral was waiting for us. We had twenty-eight people attend.

The self guided tour started at 2:00 pm. We were each issued a handheld speaker phone that allowed us to go at our own pace through the exhibit. After visiting the gift shop, we traveled a couple of miles down Main Street to Original Mike's Restaurant where we all met for an early dinner. Original Mike's is where the Orange County PCA meets for their 1st

Saturday breakfast meetings. The restaurant facility and food were outstanding.

No dinner is complete without dessert! Steve Klein said the sorbet at TAPS in Corona was the best, so off we went (any excuse to drive our cars) to Corona. TAPS is located in the new Dos Lagos Shopping Center off the 15 freeway.

Steve did not exaggerate, the desserts were fabulous and it was a perfect ending for a very memorable day.

It is still not too late to see the exhibit; the Terra Cotta Warriors will be here through October 12, 2008. For more information, you may visit Bowers Museum website.
